There are a number of excellent programs available today when it comes to homeschooling, but many of these programs come with a very high price tag! Before my children were born, I decided that I would homeschool them. Naturally, I faced a lot of opposition in my choice, but I realized it was just that – MY choice. Immediately after the birth of my first child, I started to research homeschool programs. I was shocked to see just how much this particular educational choice would end up costing us. Then, I overheard a casual conversation regarding a homeschool program that a coworker used with her children while on a break at work. This homeschool program was not a traditional homeschool curriculum, but I liked the concept. It was actually referred to as “public virtual school”. Writing A Lesson Plan

Madeleine Hunter, an educator of great renown, who helped establish the University of California at Los Angeles’ (UCLA) Elementary School, was the first to develop an effective lesson plan format for teachers to use. She identified several vital factors for learning that were not included in most lessons taught to children. She incorporated these factors into her basic lesson plan. The basic lesson plan has been modified at times (for example, “State Standard Addressed” was added in the late 1990s), but the format has stood the test of time and performed well in helping schools raise test scores.
